We are pleased to announce the acquisition from the West Country Historic Omnibus & Transport Trust of 1977 convertible open-top Bristol VRT VDV 137S.

VDV 137S is one of nine such vehicles delivered to the Devon General area of the Western National Omnibus Company in 1977/78. Named after Royal Navy warships, they replaced the ‘Sea Dog’ Leyland Atlanteans on the coastal open-top services in Torbay.

This bus complements our existing collection of Devon General buses by representing the National Bus Company period of ownership of the company, when vehicle purchases switched to standard NBC types. Added interest comes from the fact that the bus is one of only 50 convertible open-top Bristol VRTs delivered new to NBC subsidiaries in 1977/78.
