We are delighted to announce the addition to our collection of 1959 Metro Cammell-bodied Leyland Atlantean 872 ATA. This bus is historically significant as the first of 72 Atlanteans purchased new by Devon General between 1959 and 1968. There is a profile of the bus here.
872 ATA has been in the ownership of Stagecoach South West since 2011 and the company has donated it to the Trust as part of its ongoing commitment to community engagement and transport heritage. DGOT is very grateful to the company for its generosity and we’d like to offer our special thanks to Exeter paintshop supervisor Nathan Boustead and his team for their outstanding work in repanelling and repainting the bus.
The bus is currently in storage and our volunteers will be preparing it over the coming months so that it will be able to participate in events in 2026.
